Belfair Elementary School provides a number of special education services to support and educate qualified students. Students in our special education program receive specially designed instruction in an environment that supports their individual learning needs.
Many of our special education students, depending on the nature and severity of their disability, receive their education in a regular education classroom. Some are supported by para-educators in their homeroom, others receive pull-out services. Every child is different so we provide a flexible program to meet the needs of students with disabilities without singling them out.
The Early Childhood Special Education Program provides comprehensive, language-based instruction for children ages 3 to 5 years old. Children attending qualify and receive special services in communication, social/emotional/behavioral, cognitive, and motor areas.
Our Resource Room provides a variety of services to assist students who qualify for special education services. Student’s services are identified in their individualized education plan. Some of the services provided are as follows: Specially designed instruction in Reading, Math, Written Language, and Social and Emotional Issues. This program also provides consultation and collaboration with general education teachers to provide a quality program for students with special education needs.
Other Services
In addition to specially designed instruction, students may receive speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, transition services and/or psychological and counseling services based upon their individual needs.
If you feel that your child may qualify for special education services, please contact your child's teacher, the school psychologist, counselor, or the principal to request information.
