💙 Recognizing Perseverance 💙
The Administration Appreciation series is an ongoing opportunity for building and district administrators to highlight staff that consistently display certain traits. This week we hear from Amber Nygard, Director of Inclusive Education, who wishes to recognize Chasity Johnson for the trait of 'Perseverance.'
“Chasity is one of our district school psychologists. She is primarily our secondary psychs but she far over serves her role. She is a leader and mentor to everyone in the Inclusive Education department. Instead of shutting down when we have challenges, she pulls the team together to find ways to work together and problem solve and support each other. Everyone in our team learns to persevere and be stronger in our roles by the example that Chasity sets for us. We are incredibly lucky for the dedication and commitment she has to the NM community of students, families, and staff.”

💙 Recognizing Perseverance 💙
Assistant Principal Pattison has nominated Hannah Kidd as part of the building admin appreciation series. He shares this story of her recent accomplishment, and how she demonstrates the trait of perseverance in her teaching: "Hannah recently received her master’s degree. She earned it while teaching full-time in a new building, and didn’t let anything drop. On top of this, she is a club advisor. She always puts her best foot forward to do what is best for students and our school."
Congratulations, Hannah!

February is CTE Month and today we highlight the Hospitality & Tourism pathways. Here at NMSD, our CTE program has a culinary pathway that introduces students to the industry, and provides learning opportunities through the planning and catering of administration and community events. One event students participate in every year is the United Way auction, preparing specialty desserts for attendees. For more information on the CTE pathways available, visit https://www.northmasonschools.org/o/nmhs/page/career-technical-education

💙 Recognizing Perseverance 💙
Our 'Building Admin Appreciation' series continues this month by celebrating the trait of 'Perseverance' in our staff members. First up is Oma Wilcox, nominated by Principal Kalahan: “Oma is constantly trying new things with her students to support them in their learning. She is always willing to experiment with lessons, assessments, and interventions that support the curriculum as a whole. She doesn’t give up on her students and constantly expects high levels of engagement in the class.”
Thank you, Oma, for all the ways you model this trait and apply it to your teaching. We appreciate all you do for our students!

❤️ What a nice way for our staff to start the day! ❤️ Belfair Community Church brings the staff doughnuts once a week and this week they brought special treats for Valentines Day. Thank you so much for this show of appreciation for all of our staff at each building!

💙 Student Kindness 💙
One of our security guards, Scotty, received an unexpected kindness from a high school student last week. In pottery class, the student made an engraved food bowl for Scotty's cat, Stitch, which was finished off in a beautiful shade of bulldog blue. You can see from Scotty's smile, that this gesture really made his day.
Moments like this show that, beyond doing their job of keeping our campuses safe, our security guards form real connections with our students. Thank you, Scotty, Dan, and Anthony, for all you do!
